About Angelos Angelou
With a rich history of economic development and entrepreneurship, Angelos Angelou stands as the Founder & CEO of AngelouEconomics, Founder & CEO of International Accelerator, and Managing Partner of IA Global Ventures. After moving from Greece to Texas in the late 1970s to pursue his university education, Angelos became a pivotal economic development leader at the City of Austin’s Chamber of Commerce in the early 1980s, often credited as the “chief architect” behind Austin’s evolution into a global technology hub.
Under his leadership, the Chamber of Commerce team successfully recruited over 800 companies, including international giants like Samsung and Tokyo Electron, contributing to the creation of 70,000 direct and 250,000 indirect jobs in Austin. Angelos, recognizing the significant impact of companies founded by foreign-born entrepreneurs and perceiving their need for an American ally to navigate the U.S. market, founded the International Accelerator (IA) to pave a smoother path to Austin for foreign entrepreneurs.
Angelos is an alumnus of the University of Texas, San Antonio, where he earned a BA in Economics and Political Science, and St. Mary’s University, where he achieved an MA in Economics and Management. He has also engaged in Ph.D. level coursework in economics at Southern Methodist University.
